Lionel Lim is the President of Sun Microsystems' Asia South region and Japan. In this capacity, he is responsible for the overall leadership of the Global Sales and Services organization to grow revenue, deliver profitability and provide best in class service to customers. In addition to being the president of Asia South and Japan, Lionel's portfolio includes the role of Chief of Operations for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region at Sun Microsystems. This region encompasses a complex and broad spectrum of Geographically Established Markets (GEMs) including Asia South (14 countries), Greater China and India. As APAC's Chief of Operations, he is responsible for putting strategies in place to align and consistently grow the business across the region. Lionel Lim has more than 29 years of experience in the Information and Communication technology Industry. After joining Sun in 1988, he was instrumental in inaugurating and building the company's operations in Asia South. A leader of several initiatives in Asia South that not only contributed to Sun's ability to engage the marketplace, his discipline, leadership, and ability to align and accelerate growth has been recognized with the presentation of the prestigious Sun Microsystems, Inc. Leadership Award 2001 - an award recognizing outstanding and holistic leadership among key executives. Lionel's leadership and vision can be witnessed in Asia South being the GEM to conceptualize and launch the Sun Equity Program - a now global program designed to increase Sun's presence in different countries. Lionel's broad experience in Sun includes his role as the President of Greater China, which comprised of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for twelve months in 2007. During this period, Lionel was integral in leading the team to significant year on year growth. Lionel has been described by the Business Times in Singapore as "A leader that leads with passion". He is renowned for propagating Sun's vision as a thought leader to various audiences. Prior to Sun, Lionel held several senior management positions throughout his 9 years' tenure in Hewlett-Packard which ranged from business development, managing strategic relationships to sales operations. His last held position in Hewlett-Packard was Director of Sales, Hewlett-Packard Singapore. Lionel has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. |
