Tan Kwang-Meng is the vice president of Partner Sales Organisation for the Asia Pacific region. He is responsible for accelerating the implementation of strategies to grow revenue and expand the footprint of Sun's products and technologies with greater operational efficiency through the community of partners in the region. Tan has spent nearly 20 years with the IT industry and for the past two years was the senior director, Partner Sales Organiz ation, Asia Pacific. Prior to this role he was director, Asia South, where he was responsible for scaling and aligning the Channel Sales, Partner Development and Sun Center Telesupport teams across the Asia South region. He developed and implemented Asia South's "Partner Architecture 3.0", a partner program designed for equitable recognition and reward for partners who put commensurate investments into the Sun partnership. Tan joined Sun as a country channels manager in 1990 and subsequently held the positions of strategic account sales and sales director of Sunsoft. Tan received the prestigious SUN ICON Best Sales Rep award in 1993 from two of Sun's founders, Scott McNealy and Andreas Bechtolsheim. A systems engineer by training, Tan began his career at Hewlett-Packard as a systems engineer and thereafter to a sales position, where he won the Best Sales Representative Award in 1988. Tan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, and was an exchange scholarship recipient at University of California, San Diego.
